It is considered to be a lifelong allergy problem and equally common among babies and adults. Only a handful number toddlers can outgrow it in adulthood. There is no exact reason behind why only few people can do this and why the others can’t. The reaction can start within 15 minutes after consuming almond or related fruits within the same family.

Unless an allergist does not suggest, a person should always avoid all types of nuts, when he has the hypersensitivity to almond due to cross contamination. Some of the other cross reactivity foods are peach and fruits from Rosaceae family. The almonds are used in a variety of foods or recipes as an ingredient. This may not be explicitly mentioned in label ingredients, so you must ask the manufacturer about it. It is most widely used in cakes, biscuits, breads, ice cream etc. It is not only the almond itself or something which is derived from it but the essence and flavor of it is equally harmful for someone who has been suffering from almond allergy. Some brands use fake flavor which does not include the real protein and thus don’t harm.

This injection can save life when there is no one beside you to help. But some time the patient does not remain in a position during anaphylaxis to help himself and thus someone else from family or friends circle needs to step up and shoot the injection.
